2/3/2011- 02/04/2011 Write On Target

Hello All!

Lizzy and Amelia 02 03 2011

Lizzy has been doing well and it is fair weather for now. Today the kids were out playing in the snow after another storm hit this week. Lizzy was riding on the sled with her big sister Amelia and had a great time. It was so cute to see her sliding down the drive towards the camera. This was the best shot I could get today, but she was having a blast!

Little bro Mattie was in on the fun also. As you can see he is very serious about his snow gear. Poor little dude was so bundled I was surprised he was willing to move around. But he did well and had a great time climbing on the mini mountain of snow that has accumulated due to the plowing.

Today Lizzy and I were working on writing letters. Lizzy is left-handed and the only lefty child to date. Again our baby girl is unique. I decided to use my left hand today while teaching her and I realized how difficult it is to do something so foreign. Little ones must feel exactly the same thing. We as experienced adults feel that it should come very easily to every child but it doesn’t. I remember one parent told me that her son was left-handed and after he entered KG he started using his right hand instead. His mom asked him why he changed and he replied ”Everyone else does it this way so I guess I better also”. Amazing what examples will do. So with that in mind we are all going to learn to use our left hands to write. Hopefully this example will encourage Lizzy to write more and form her letters in a way that makes sense to her. In typical family style we will try to help the cause and see if we have more luck with this approach. Time will tell.

Katie and Martin 02 03 2011

Our little Katie picked up a pencil about 6 months ago and held it like she had done it all of her life. That’s her way. She was only 18 months old and just fell right into it. That is not the case for Lizzy and so many other kids. All 9 of our kids are different and Lizzy is again showing us how to better at everything that we do. Including teaching. Thanks Lizzy!

Lizzy has been sleeping well and very affectionate. Her speech is getting better with each day and we are very encouraged by this Cina clearing. Again we need to watch and wait to see when her next dose will be given. Again we will wait for another dip in her behavior so we can go forward again with another dose. We may have to increase the potency of the Cina but we have to watch and wait.

Patience is a virtue.

I hope and pray that restful sleep will continue for the next few days. May God grant us the strength and wisdom we need for another day of recovery.

Sweet dreams.
